For sore throat: Gargle throat with salt water (Half a teaspoon of salt in 8oz warm water)

Acetaminophen 
(Brand Name: TYLENOL®)

 

 

 

  • Relieve pain & fever

  • Safe on stomach

  • Do not take more than 4 gm per day (12 tabs of regular strength/ 8 tabs of extra strength/ 6 tabs of double strength)

  • Taking large doses can damage the kidney and liver 

 

 

Aspirin 
(Brand Name: BAYER® ASPIRIN)

 

 

 

  • Relieve pain, fever, and swelling

  • Always take with food to protect and reduce irritation on stomach

  • Greatest potential for gastrointestinal upset (heartburn, nausea, indigestion, possibly ulcers)

  • Avoid use in children under 12 years old

 

Ibuprofen 
(Brand Names: ADVIL®, MOTRIN®)

 

  • Relieve pain, fever, and swelling

  • Generally believed to be safer on the stomach than aspirin

  • May still cause gastrointestinal upset (heartburn, nausea, indigestion, possibly ulcers)

FAQ: Can I take MOTRIN® and TYLENOL® together?

Answer: You can safely take MOTRIN® with TYLENOL®. But you should not take MOTRIN® and ASPIRIN together.
